江北区，隶属于重庆市，是重庆主城核心区之一。地处长江、嘉陵江两江之北，自西向东呈长条型带状分布。1955年，重庆市区划调整，更名为江北区。 [1]  江北区下辖9个街道、3个镇，幅员面积为220.8平方千米。 [17]  根据第七次人口普查数据，截至2020年11月1日零时，江北区常住人口92.58万 [16]  。

2020年，江北区实现地区生产总值1325.4亿元，按可比价计算同比增长3.9%。第一、二、三产业分别实现增加值1.1亿元、283.9亿元、1040.4亿元。 [14] 

江北区获得过“全国双拥模范城”、“中国城市人民获得感范例奖”、全国文明城市、第四批国家知识产权示范城市等荣誉称号。 [2]  2020年10月20日，入选全国双拥模范城（县）名单。
